apple of my eye

nothing makes me more happy than my little frenchie
she's the apple of my eye
the sweetest thing... sweeter than pie!
(didn't mean to rhyme)
and nothing makes me happier than coming home after work
and seeing her all cuddled up with taylor
...she loves being taylor's girl

the two things in this world that i love more than everything
how lucky am i!?!

french lobster is a'cookin!

its another famous ignition print halloween
(ignition is where i work, btw)
and since i was kind of the "new kid" last year
i decided this year i'd participate
and go for the $300 amazon gift card prize!

so i scrambled this morning to find a chef's jacket
and luckily i found it at the first place i went to (aahs)
made a hat out of poster paper
cut out claws out of red poster paper
stole..."borrowed" a pot and tongs from my work's photo studio
and wrapped molly up in one of taylor's red workout t-shirts
and voilĂ

the winners should be announced soon!
fingers crossed that i at least won 3rd place ($100 amazon gift card)

sunday in venice

what beautiful weather we've been getting lately
i am in love with socal's beginning of fall weather

sunday, taylor and i were on our feet all day long
we woke up early and went to the gym
walked around the farmers market
walked all around the abbot kinney festival in venice
and you better believe molly was right there with us
we were pooped by the time we got home

so, we relaxed some and decided to make a mushroom pizza
with all the produce we got from the farmers market
(pictures to come)
and ended the night with a few glasses of wine and a game of poker
it was a great end to the weekend
and molly got to try out long-boarding!

bbq date and famous furniture

last night taylor and i had a little bbq date after work
we were hoping to bbq monday night, but we both got home too late from work
taylor did most of the work.. the grilled portobello mushrooms and steak
i prepared and cooked the padron peppers
and molly ran around the two of us, not really helping at all, but being cute as usual
all of this fun stuff was from the sunday farmers market
padron pepper recipe (via leila):
coat peppers with coarse salt and pepper
drizzle with olive oil
saute in a skillet while stirring for about 5 minutes
(leila suggests using a cast iron skillet and baking for a few minutes, but unfortunately i don't have one!)

afterwards, we drove out to the hollywood hills for taylor to pick up his beloved, new, cassina authentic
yes my friends, he found one at a good price
and he's so excited about it
when he got home, he put it in our room (still figuring out where it will officially go),
poured a glass of scotch and relaxed in his button up shirt and boxers
this morning when we woke up i said, "hey tay, whats that thing on the other side of the room?"
he smiled a big grin and said in his italian accent, "ya know?"

this morning he was running late to work
and i caught him laying in it and staring out the window!
oh boys and their toys

guest post: guarding dogs documentary

please head over to the guarding dogs documentary blog to check out my guest post on molly
here you'll find molly's story along with other people's rescue tales

"guarding dogs" is an upcoming documentary film that strives to raise awareness of all of the wonderful dogs that are waiting to find their forever homes, and the rescuers who devote their time and energy to reaching that goal. It is the film's mission to not only emphasize the importance of rescue and adoption, but  to also influence the way people think about animal companionship; not as an owner/property relationship but rather as a guardian/companion dynamic that encourages respect and reduces abuse and neglect.

weekend in lake arrowhead

hi friends
sorry i haven't been around here much in the past days
taylor and i spent a much needed mini-vacation in lake arrowhead for the weekend
his aunt and uncle have a big cabin on the lake and were so kind to let us stay with them
we spent some time on the boat, enjoying the beautiful weather and warm lake
we relaxed, a lot.. (i haven't slept in until 10am since i can remember!) and got to wonder the village.

taylor and his uncle stayed up late saturday night drinking a bottle of spanish wine (after a few margaritas and beers). so, i stay up with taylor nursing him back to "soberness" as he didn't feel good.
silly guy!

but we had a blast
and feel a little more restored this monday after a long, crazy work week

...and molly!
she absolutely loved arrowhead.
she got to go on the boat, run around the pines...
she was in heaven
...except when we took her out water skiing, she was not havin' the fast ride on the lake.
she curled up between me and tay and looked at us with a face that said "are you serious?"

here are some pictures from the trip
sorry there are so many, but lets say this makes up for missing the past few days :)

for more pictures of the weekend, check out my facebook page!

 happy monday sweet friends!
here's to a good week, yes?

saturday bbq in the sun

this past saturday
a bunch of old friends got together to celebrate davana's 24th birhday.
we ate, drank, played "apples to apples", soccer, football, listened to music
all day long and enjoyed each other's company and the sun.
we all had a little something to celebrate. april - getting her new apartment approved all on her own, davana - her birthday, me - getting my cast off and getting a raise at work, lisa - newly single and happy, ashley - 3 yr anniversary with her beau comin up AND moving in with him soon, anna - getting into nursing school
...and lil' molly got to meet all her new friends at the park
she was so good and was as happy as a lark!

all in all life is grand
oh to be 24 years young forever!

i have more party pictures on my facebook:

hope you all had a happy weekend
xoxo

gettin' a pup!

ok ok ok, its friday, i know
and i should post about french toast
but it didnt happen today...

so how about this
what if i post, "french bull dog friday"?
does that work for ya?

i'm gettin a new pup!
uh huh, thats right, you heard it....
look at this face!
last night taylor and i went to the montana ave. art walk in santa monica
we almost didn't go because it was getting late, but boy am i happy we did
we were walking near 11th street when i saw a lady holding the cutest little frenchie, "mimi", in front of a boutique pet shop "to wag for"

mimi ran to me and i ran to her
the lady said that someone had just come by the store and dropped her off
the previous owner was "psychotic" (her words, not mine) and decided she didn't like the mimi
the lady told taylor and i that if we knew of anyone looking for a new pet to have them come to the store.
i said, "oh no, pleeease don't tell me that"

as most of you know, i've been wanting a french bull dog for a long time now
but i believe in rescuing dogs, not buying them, and french bull dogs are hard to find as rescues.

mimi and i had an instant connection that i can't even begin to explain.
the poor girl is so skinny you can see her ribs,
but she is a lover and i'll be sure to restore her back to perfect health

as we walked away, my heart was melting - like it literally hurt!
my stomach was in knots because i knew taylor didn't want a dog
i told him we had to go back, and we did, and my heart melted some more

after a long sleepless night, taylor and i talked this morning
long story short, he gave me the okay, so you know what i did?
i waited for him to get in the shower, ran outside, and started screaming with excitement
then i called my mom and told her the good news
.... and then she screamed with excitement
i emailed my work that i'd be a little late, hopped in my mini and drove to the little pet shop on montana and waited for them to open
with jitters, i filled out the application as fast as i could. then i went to the back to see my little mimi.

i couldn't leave. i took so many pictures and this little girl knows how to pose!
we're perfect for each other and i hope hope hope hope that my application is approved and i can take her home.

this was her little face when i left
she was whimpering
ugh the face!!
and by the way, i'm changing her name to "molly may"
she's too precious to be named mimi!
