friday night, date night.

it was a nice friday the 13th after all, except for the fall i had while riding my bike back (it was scary, but lets not get into that)

taylor took me out for a lovely evening.

we stopped at his old 'go-to' spot when he was at USC that i, too, fell in love with when we first started dating.

taylor caught up with the owner, gopaul, who has known him since he was a wee freshman in college and we devoured two indian plates that were AMAZING (as always).

After that we went to the music box in hollywood to watch the kills perform.

it was a great performance and i'd definitely watch them live again. the lead singer moves so well on stage, she makes singing, playing the guitar and drums look effortless.

and now for a fun-filled weekend!

a year to date.

this time last year, taylor and i were getting ready for our summer road trip and he was just about to graduate (may 14th to be exact). it was an exciting time.

a lot has happened since then. i've grown, he's grown. we both got our first "grown up jobs", started making "real money", taylor started a furniture business and completed multiple projects, we got our first apartment together, a new car, some sad times, some happy times... its been a fun ride and i'm excited for whats to come. i sense a new, big trip coming soon... i wonder where it will be? here's to another summer together and some new memories in the making.

here are some pics from our trip last summer. im feeling a little nostalgic, but in a good way

time to shape up.

the past months has been a splurge...

i've indulged in almost everything imaginable - food, shopping, retail, staying up past my bedtime every night!

it has been fun, but i'm starting to feel a little out of control. when i'm boundary-less i start to get depressed; like a spoiled child on christmas day, who ends up crying because of all the attention and presents. yeah, that would be me right now.

i've been at the new place for a month now so the excuses have to end. i need to get back into my routine. i've been really uphappy with my weight lately and summer is no longer around the corner, its here! i need to get back at the gym and start eating healthier. i started this morning by pre-setting my alarm to go off every monday, tuesday and thursday morning for gym-time. taylor is going to do it with me!

i also need to get back into saving money. though there are more things to do and buy for the apartment, slowly but surely has to be the method. i haven't put any money away this past month and thats a big no-no in my book.

so here's to a new, happier me.

happy friday everyone... careful its friday the 13th!

something old, something new, something borrowed, something used.

vintage seems to be taking over barry!

the weekend was spent driving around looking at good ol' 1930-1950s treasures. i bought a typewriter yesterday and i'm in love! its 1930s quiet de luxe that i bought it from a lady in eagle rock who restores them (among other things) for a living. its beautiful and works like a charm; but believe it or not, our grandparents' closets proved to be the best place rummage..

it was a "vintage mom's day".. i spent the morning with my grandma going through her drawers and closets, and taylor spent the evening doing the same with his grandma. we lucked out with a lot of cool stuff - taylor, his grandfather's typewriter, an old chess set, me an old english, leather briefcase. we scavenged up some other gems like an brownie camera, a mason jar of shabby pens, some tattered books, and i brushed off some of my grandfather's flight logs from the war (courtesy of Linda-ma).

i'm really loving our new home. i was telling taylor last night, i feel more at home at our little apartment than i do at my parents' house in the valley. this is our life, and it's been damn fun so far.

taylor is continuing to build our furniture, so we still don't have much; a couch, a bed.. the basics. but hey! we got some cool vintage trinkets!

taylor said it best, "we have 2 typewriters, a brownie, but no chairs..."

happy monday, friends!
