blood orange cookies

this past sunday i spent the day conquering these lovelies... orange sugar cookies with bloood orange cream cheese frosting 

these took me a good three hours
 from preparing the blood orange curd used in the frosting,

to hand squeezing  blood oranges (that i bought in the pouring rain at the local farmers market),

to cutting up fresh strawberries to top 'em off
everything was done from s-c-r-a-t-c-h

i dont mean to toot my own horn

but these are by far the best cookies ive ever had, EVER!

i plan to make them again for tay's family's easter celebration

...and to round out the week

some mountain raspberry pancakes 

just added some farmer's market raspberry jam to my go to buttermilk pancake mix (krusteaz)

plopped on some powdered sugar and maple syrup

and there you have it

a perfect start to the weekend

tay and i have been trying to start our days off right with good, healthy, energizing meals

this morning i made oatmeal (the heart healthy serving)

in almond milk (instead of water) and added fresh chopped banana, strawberry and kiwi 

to top it off we added flax seed and flax seed oil

a bowl of omega threes, antioxidants, protein and fiber

mMmMMmmmm

springtime

its officially spring and i couldnt be more excited about it

my favorite season is finally here!

so much to look forward too

and so many of my favorite fruits and veggies are in season

strawberries, mangos, asparagus, brocoli, apricots...

mmm

french toast friday, back in action!

i'm loving how bright and sunny it is in the morning

i was up by 6am ready to cook up something delicious!

today i made good ol' french toast from my regular recipe

but threw in some of my espresso and served with farmers market cut strawberries

and homemade whipped cream (mmmmm)

i'm actually excited for "spring forward" tomorrow night

spring is my favorite season and for me, this marks the start of it

there's so much to look forward to in the coming months

grilled cheese festival, taylor's 26th birthday, trip(s) to san francisco and, best of all, longer days!

a cookie recipe a week

thats what seems to be happening around here

and i don't mind it!

last night i got a little creative

and made

banana oat cookies with chocolate chunks

sandwiched together with peanut butter cream

i couldnt resist this time

i had to have a bite

and let me tell you

i had no regrets
